Strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are expected to develop as early as late this morning, but especially by this afternoon and into this evening. Primary hazards will be damaging wind gusts and large hail.
Scattered thunderstorms will become possible across the region Saturday afternoon and evening. High amounts of instability could lead to a few strong to severe storms with mainly damaging wind gusts as the primary threat.
Heavy rainfall may be a concern through the upcoming weekend. The heaviest rains will likely fall today (Friday) and on Saturday, especially across NE OK and NW AR. Given previous rainfall and saturated soils, flash flooding will be a concern through Friday with at least low potential for additional river impacts.
Additional widespread rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are forecast tonight through Sunday, with local amounts of 3 inches. Flooding concerns may increase.
Widespread rains will continue tonight and Friday with decreasing rain chances over the weekend. Hot and humid conditions will intensify over the weekend into early next week.
